Val Edwards lectured for Sydney Model and Etiquette College (formerly Sydney Model and Deportment
College) before she bought it, together with Sydney Model Agency and
Sydney Model and Promotions Agency, in 1993. These businesses were established in 1980.
Val Edwards and her team are in the business of making a good impression. She believes "we are a part of society, so we really should
try to fit in as best we can, whilst maintaining our own individuality". The courses she runs prepare people for life by
improving their confidence, self esteem, motivation, knowledge about life and manners.
A Sydney residence for many years, she was raised and schooled in Wollongong, where she competed in the Miss Australia
Quest at the age of 18.
In 2000 she was appointed to the prestigious position of Attache for Tajikistan, for the 2000 Olympic Games. She was also
invited to train the Medal Presenting Staff for the Games and had many of her promotional models working in hospitality for
several of the 199 competing countries.
"I have known Valerie Edwards for 35 years. She is an honest, caring person of undoubted integrity. Her family background
gives her an excellent grounding in human relations." says 'Little Pattie', singer.

Val Edwards, owner of the Sydney Model and Etiquette College
was appointed by SOCOG as the Attache for the country of Tajikistan. Tajikistan has no diplomatic ties with Australia,
so they requested the assistance of an Australian during their stay in Australia. Val was honoured to be invited to
help the delegation from this country.
The second involvement that Sydney Model and Etiquette College had with the Olympics was to
train 120 of the ‘Medal Presenting Staff’, who were viewed by 3.7 billion people. Val was very proud of their posture,
poise, grooming and the smiling faces they presented to the world.
Another way Sydney Model and Promotions Agency helped the Australian Olympic Committee
was to provide Promotional Staff for the Corporate Hospitality areas for countries such as Italy, who entertained
their Olympians, Business Associates and their Country’s President during the Games.
"Sydney 2000 Olympic Games have been described as the greatest Games ever and there is no doubt that the standard,
quality and presentation of the official medal ceremonies after each and every event of the Games, very much contributed
to the success of the Games" says Bob Elphinston, OAM, Secretary General, Australian Olympic Committee.
"The Sydney Olympic Games Organising Committee was particularly fortunate to have the Sydney Model and Etiquette College
train the 120 ‘Medal Presenting Staff’ who undertook the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal presentation for each of the 300
Olympic Games Events in front of a world wide television audience" he continued.
"The Australian Olympic Committee is please to acknowledge the excellent support provided by Val Edwards and the Sydney
Model and Etiquette College in the training of our Medal Presentation staff".
